Ikunitama Shrine

Ikunitama Shrine is a shrine with a long history that is loved by the locals and nicknamed ``Ikutama-san.'' It is said to have strong blessings on matchmaking, severing relationships, maturing a good relationship, and protecting women.
The main deities enshrined here are Ikushima no Okami and Tarushima no Okami.
They are gods that bring blessings for matchmaking, marital harmony, fertility, and easy childbirth.

Precinct

In fact, the structure of the shrine itself is valuable, with a unique architectural style called ``Ikutama-zukuri.'' This architectural style, considered a relic of the magnificent Momoyama culture, can be seen on the roof of the main shrine.

Running horse ritual
May 5th

Yabusame was once held on Omotesando in front of the torii gate. Nowadays, children can experience horseback riding at Ikutama Park near the shrine, and yabusame techniques using wooden horses are demonstrated within the shrine grounds.

Ikokutama Festival
Yoimiya July 11th
Hongu Shrine July 12th

One of Osaka's three major summer festivals, Yoimiya features a parade of taiko drums, lion dances, and portable shrines. At the main shrine, 500 servants and horse-drawn carriages dressed in festival costumes parade to Osaka Castle. There will also be food stalls and taiko drum parades on both days.

Osaka Takigi Noh
August 11th   August 12th

This is based on the story of a grand dedication of Noh in 1546, before Osaka Castle was built.
You can watch Noh on both days for a fee.

感想

The grounds are rich in nature, and you can feel the atmosphere from the water flow. Also, at the summer festival, the many food stalls and festival drums lining the approach to the shrine gave a lively, summer-like feel to it, making it a lot of fun.
